After first discovering Peruvian Cumbia, through Los Destellos, I was hooked. The genre was a novel mix that captured my affections for instrumental music, latin percussion, electric guitars, and often at times minor keys. Over some years I’ve amassed a lot of records of the genre. My thirst for knowledge about the groups led to research that largely yielded Spanish language info only. My goal with this blog is to memorialize some of the information I’ve come to know in the English language for those English speaking fans.

Great to find this website! I’ve been getting into Cumbia for the last few years now and it’s hard to find more background information about the bands. Do you have any information on the specific gear (amps, guitars, effects) the guitar players used? That would be great!
